V Belts and Transmission Belts

V belts in Saudi Arabia or wedge ropes were designed to solve problems related to slippage and alignment. Now, it is the basic belt used for power transmission. These belts provide the best combination of load of the bearings, traction, speed of the movement and also a long service life. They are most endless. They have a cross section shape which is trapezoidal. The “V” shapes of the belt track the pulley with a mating groove. This results in not slipping of the belt. The belt has the tendency to wedge inside the groove with the increasing load. More the load more will be the wending action.


This improves the torque transmission, which makes the V-belt a good solution. This belt need less and also low tension as compared to flat belts. V belts win over flat belts as they have a small center distance and also the reduction ratios are high. The centre distance which is preferred is larger than that of the largest pulley diameter. But this is less than the sum of both pulleys, actually 3 times less. The speed can vary upto 1,000-7,000 feet per minute. V belts require large pulleys as they have a thick cross-section as compared to flat belts. If the requirement is high power, 2 or more than that V belts can also be joined together, the sides of the belts are joined in such a way that it sheaves multi groove running. This arrangement is known as multi-V.

Transmission Belts in UAE are a positive transfer belt; they are used to track movement which are relative. The toothed pulley of this machine fits the teeth of these belts. The correct tension will prevent the belt from slipping. They run at a constant speed. These belts are mostly used to transfer direct motion which helps to index and time process. They are also used in couple of chains or gears. This creates less noise. With this strategy, they do not need lubricant bath. These belts have a drawback of high cost as compared to many others. They require a specific fabric tooth pulley and provide less protection if over loaded. They are also prone to jamming and vibration due to constant tensioned cords. The lack of clutch action also adds to its drawback as this is a tendency of friction drive belts. They are also fixed in length and their lengths cannot be adjusted unlike many other belts.
